Women At Sea: Hülya Güler Co-Founded a Collective for SHE-Farers

As women in Supply Chain, we work with a lot of overseas shipping…aka we put a lot of products on BIG A** BOATS. Traditionally and historically, its been men captaining these mega-barges that bring over many of your favorite household products. Which is why we were so excited to learn about SheFarers.

The SheFarers Platform aims to promote gender equality on all type of ships, to support career development of women seafarers worldwide and to create awareness on women's empowerment in field work of the maritime industry in general. YES LADIES. These women are commanding ships, working in crews, navigating dangerous waters. They also offer community and mentorship to encourage more women to pursue the maritime industry.

Captain Hulya Guler Co-Founded SheFarers to break the stigma of women on ships. The gender bias has been rampant in this industry and they are looking to change that.

Hulya graduated from Istanbul Technical University Maritime Transportation Management Engineering and worked on container vessels for 4 years. We bet some of our clients products were on her ships (that’s wild!). We love Hulya’s mission of getting more women on ships. 💛
